TigerConnect and qliqSOFT alternative for clinics: staff chat with a BAA

TigerConnect and qliqSOFT are clinical communication platforms built for care-team messaging, secure texting and paging. Both publicly address HIPAA and BAAs; see the vendor-by-vendor answer below. If your clinic needs paging, on-call workflows or clinical alerts, a clinical platform is the right tool. If the real problem is everyday staff coordination, such as front desk questions, supply requests, policy updates across locations and follow-ups that get lost in texts, Chanty may fit better. Chanty is internal team chat and work coordination for clinic staff, used alongside your clinical systems, and a signed BAA is available from the Business plan.

Short answer: are TigerConnect and qliqSOFT HIPAA compliant?

TigerConnect: Ask TigerConnect directly whether it signs a BAA for the products you plan to use, and which products and contracts that BAA covers. Get the scope in writing before staff start using it.

qliqSOFT: Ask qliqSOFT directly whether it signs a BAA, and confirm that the BAA covers each product you plan to use, whether that is secure chat, paging or any patient-facing tool.

Read any vendor's HIPAA claim with one rule in mind: no software is "HIPAA certified." HHS does not certify products. A vendor can support your compliance by offering safeguards and signing a business associate agreement (BAA). Your organization stays responsible for how staff use the tool.

The core difference between these tools is purpose. TigerConnect and qliqSOFT are clinical communication platforms. Chanty is team chat and work coordination for clinic and practice staff, and it supports HIPAA compliance with a signed BAA on the Business and Enterprise plans. To see how other tools handle this, compare HIPAA team chat tools.

If you need clinical paging, on-call management or urgent clinical alerting, stop here and evaluate a clinical platform. Chanty does not do those things.

What TigerConnect and qliqSOFT are built for

TigerConnect focuses on clinical communication for hospitals and health systems. Check TigerConnect's own site for its current product lines. Ask about its typical deployments, supported EHR integrations and sales process, because these change over time.

qliqSOFT is known for secure texting and care-team messaging. Check qliqSOFT's own site for its current products. Ask about the segments it serves, its supported EHR integrations and its sales process.

Buying and setup: ask each vendor how it sells and prices its products. This page does not cover either vendor's pricing.

Security certifications: ask each vendor for its current security certifications and audit reports.

These platforms are designed for clinical workflows, where messages are tied to patient care and the people providing it. That is a different job from coordinating the administrative and operational side of a practice.

Clinical communication vs. staff coordination: which problem does your clinic have?

Clinical communication problems belong in clinical systems and your EHR. These include paging a provider, care-team handoffs, critical result alerts, alarm routing and clinical documentation. Chanty does none of these, and it should not be used as a substitute for them.

Operational problems are the daily friction of running a practice:

  • The front desk at your second location asks whether a payer's new referral rule applies yet, and the answer is buried in someone's inbox.
  • The autoclave in exam room 3 is down. Nobody knows who called the vendor or when the technician is coming.
  • A schedule-change notice goes out by text, and two part-time staff never see it.
  • A new hire needs a laptop, an email account and their onboarding packet. The requests go to IT and HR through three different channels.
  • A policy update has to reach six locations, and you can't tell who has read it.
  • "Can someone follow up on this?" gets a thumbs-up and then disappears.

Quick self-check. You are shopping for a clinical communication platform if most of these are true:

  • You need to page or reach on-call providers.
  • Messages must route by role, shift or patient assignment for clinical response.
  • You need alerts from monitoring equipment or lab systems.
  • Messaging has to connect to your EHR's patient records.

You are shopping for staff coordination if most of these are true:

  • Your pain is lost follow-ups, scattered announcements and staff texting in personal group chats.
  • Most messages are between front desk, admin, managers, HR, IT and operations.
  • You need tasks with an owner and a deadline, not alerts.
  • You want one place for files, procedures and updates across locations.

Many practices need both, so they use a clinical system for care and a staff chat for everyday operations. For a broader look at the operational side, see healthcare communication software for clinics.

What Chanty gives clinic and practice staff

Chanty brings staff chats, calls, announcements, files and assigned tasks into one workspace. The goal is that operational conversations end with a clear owner, a deadline and a follow-up.

Chat and calls

  • Public and private team conversations, one-on-one messages, threads, mentions and pinned messages.
  • Unlimited searchable message history, including on the Free plan.
  • Voice messages for staff who are on their feet all day.
  • Unlimited 1:1 audio and video calls on Free. Unlimited group calls and screen sharing on Business.

Tasks that don't get lost

  • Turn any message into a task in one click, with an owner, due date, status and priority.
  • Track open work on a built-in Kanban board. For example, the autoclave repair moves from "To do" to "Waiting on vendor" to "Done."
  • Teambook gathers tasks, files, links, pinned messages and conversations in one hub.

Announcements for multi-location practices (Business and Enterprise)

  • Company-wide announcements and scheduled posts.
  • Polls and surveys, an employee directory and onboarding tools.

Guests kept separate

  • Give contractors, billing vendors or IT providers guest access limited to selected conversations, separate from internal staff. Business includes 3 free guest seats per paid member.

Apps staff will actually open

  • iOS, Android, macOS, Windows and web.
  • A WhatsApp-like interface that needs little training.

HIPAA, BAA and security in Chanty

BAA by plan

Plan HIPAA and BAA
Free No BAA. Do not share PHI on Free.
Business Supports HIPAA compliance with a signed BAA.
Enterprise BAA plus a negotiated MSA.

Chanty's plans are Free, Business and Enterprise. See the security page for how to request and sign the BAA.

Security controls

  • All plans: encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+, forward secrecy, AES-128-GCM) and encrypted file storage. Chanty is not end-to-end encrypted.
  • Business: two-factor authentication, SSO, IP allowlisting, customizable roles and retention, and 120+ permission settings that control what each person can see and do.
  • Enterprise: adds SAML SSO, directory sync, SCIM provisioning, unlimited custom roles, DLP and governance controls, and data residency options in the US, EU or APAC.

What the BAA does not cover

  • Third-party integrations (for example Google Drive, Zapier or Trello) are outside Chanty's BAA scope. Don't route PHI through them unless you have a separate agreement with that vendor.
  • AI agents are available only on Enterprise. BAA coverage of agent processing and external AI models is not documented, so keep PHI out of agents until coverage is confirmed in writing.

Shared responsibility

Chanty provides the safeguards and the BAA. Your practice is responsible for:

  • signing the BAA before anyone handles PHI,
  • configuring roles and permissions,
  • managing user access and offboarding,
  • device security,
  • staff policies and training.

When TigerConnect or qliqSOFT is the better fit, and when Chanty is

Choose a clinical communication platform if you need:

  • Provider paging or on-call workflows.
  • Clinical alerts or alarm routing.
  • Care-team messaging linked to your EHR.
  • Patient communication.

For patient-facing messaging, Chanty is also the wrong tool. The Spruce Health alternative for staff communication page explains where patient platforms and staff chat divide, and the Klara alternative for staff communication page covers the same split for Klara.

Choose Chanty if you need:

  • Staff chat, calls, announcements, files and trackable tasks across front desk, admin, HR, IT and multiple locations.
  • A signed BAA from the Business plan.

Know Chanty's limits:

  • Task management is basic: lists and Kanban, not complex project management.
  • The native integration catalog is smaller than Slack's or Teams'. Zapier, Make and n8n extend it.
  • There is no shift scheduling, time tracking or HR functionality.
  • There are no EHR integrations.

A strong fit: moving staff off personal messengers. If your staff coordinate in personal text threads or WhatsApp groups, you have no BAA, no admin control and no way to offboard someone who leaves. Chanty gives you a familiar chat interface with those controls. Background: is WhatsApp HIPAA compliant, and for other consumer apps, Signal, iMessage, GroupMe and HIPAA.

How to get started

  1. Pick the right plan. Start on Business if staff might discuss anything that could include PHI. In practice, that covers most front desk and billing conversations. Sign the BAA before anyone uses the workspace.
  2. Structure the workspace. Create channels by location (#elm-street, #north-clinic) and by team (#front-desk, #billing, #it-requests, #facilities). Pin current procedures in each.
  3. Set roles and permissions. Decide who can post company-wide announcements, create channels and invite guests. Invite guests, such as your IT provider or cleaning vendor, only to the conversations they need.
  4. Write a one-page staff policy. Spell out what belongs in Chanty (operational requests, updates, tasks) and what stays in the EHR or clinical system (clinical communication, documentation, handoffs). Starter templates are in the operations library for clinics.
  5. Turn requests into tasks from day one. When someone writes "can someone call the vendor," convert it to a task with an owner and a due date.

FAQ

Is TigerConnect HIPAA compliant?

Ask TigerConnect whether it signs a BAA for the products you plan to use and what that BAA covers. No software is "HIPAA certified." The question is whether the vendor signs a BAA for the product you use and provides appropriate safeguards.

Is qliqSOFT HIPAA compliant, and does it sign a BAA?

Ask qliqSOFT for its BAA terms and the products they cover. Confirm that the BAA covers every qliqSOFT product you plan to use.

Can Chanty replace TigerConnect or qliqSOFT for paging or clinical alerts?

No. Chanty is staff coordination software. It is not a paging, on-call or clinical alerting system, and it does not handle clinical handoffs.

Does Chanty sign a BAA?

Yes, on the Business and Enterprise plans. Enterprise also includes a negotiated MSA. The Free plan has no BAA, so PHI should not be shared there.

Can clinical staff use Chanty?

Yes, for approved operational workflows alongside your clinical systems. Examples include supply requests, schedule-change notices, policy updates and IT tickets. Chanty should not be used for clinical handoffs, alerts or documentation.

Can we use Chanty and a clinical communication platform together?

Yes. Many practices keep clinical communication in a clinical platform and the EHR, and run everyday operations in a staff chat. A short written policy tells staff which tool to use for what.

Are integrations and AI agents covered by Chanty's BAA?

Third-party integrations are outside Chanty's BAA scope. AI agents are available only on Enterprise, and BAA coverage of agent processing and external models is not documented. Keep PHI out of both unless coverage is confirmed in writing.
